How I tell my twins apart
How I tell my twins apart
So yesterday after church a young girl came over to see the twins, and she asked me how I tell them apart. I told her Allison's toenails are always painted red. I painted her toenails when she was about a week old, and I had to take off the hospital bracelette.
All the time people will say things like: "Of course you can tell them apart, but how does everyone else?" or "I'm sure you can tell the difference because you're their mother."
The truth: if it wasn't for the fact I keep Allison's toenails painted I probably would have switched them back and forth a dozen times by now. They would be 25 getting fingerprinted for their first high-profile government job only to learn they've gone their whole life with the wrong name. At that point they would just have to have their names legally changed. You can't just go 25 years thinking you're Allison only to find out you were actually Katelyn.
Anyway, my point is they look a like. So never tell the mother of multiples she should be able to know the difference because you'll probably make her feel bad. Unless she has boy/girl twins...then if she can't tell the difference, she probably should feel bad.
